Villa Olivia
Villa Olivia Ski Resort is part of the many activities offered by Villa Olivia Country Club in Bartlett, Illinois. It makes for a wonderful family getaway, especially with little kids involved. Granted, its kid-friendly nature doesn't allow for very challenging slopes (only around 180 feet vertical distance), but they are enough to have lots of wholesome family fun in. It has a total of 9 slopes with 6 different ski-lifts. It also has a wide choice of hotel rooms, for those who come from afar. Its ski hill has 9 slopes, with 6 different ski lifts servicing it to enable skiers to get up the hill efficiently and quickly.

Mount Bohemia is proud to be one of the most extreme and challenging ski resorts in the midwest. It has the highest runs, most devil-may-care jumps, highest vertical drop and the deepest powder in the whole of the midwest. Most of its terrain is for intermediate to expert skiers, with hardly any room for novices. Mount Bohemia also makes little use of snowmaking machine as it aims to be all-natural as much as possible. It is regarded by a lot of purist, backcountry skiers and riders as a true treasure, and an excellent place to hone one's skiing and snowboarding talents.

Located at Glenwood, New York, Kissing Bridge Ski and Snowboard Resort is approximately half an hour away from Buffalo. The resort is association with P.S.I.A. (Professional Ski Instructors of America) and A.A.S.I. (American Association of Snowboard Instructors). Around 200 ski and snowboard instructors are available to teach first-time skiers and advanced skiers alike. It is the home of New York’s biggest downhill tubing park, Colden Tubing Co.

Catamount Ski Area is approximately 50 miles from Waterbury, Connecticut and 45 miles from Albany, New York. It has above 119 acres of skiable area with 32 trails. The Upper and Lower Promenade is the longest run in Berkshires, which runs up to 2.5 miles. The lift system includes a quad chairlift, a triple chairlift, 2 double chairlifts, a wonder carpet, and a handle tow. Night skiing is offered in 15 trails.

Yawgoo Valley has the honor of being the only ski resort in Rhode Island. That doesn't mean that it rests on its laurels; it has 13 ski trails and offers night skiing. And what it lacks in vertical drop (it's only a hill), it makes sure to keep things interesting by maintaining some excellent freestyle areas for the promising Nordic skier. Obviously Yawgoo is popular among those learning how to ski and those who are into freestyle skiing.

5. Ski Sundown
Ski Sundown is not actually a ski resort in the proper sense, but it is one of the good ski areas you can find in Connecticut. It has 15 trails, most of which are lighted for when you want to indulge in night skiing. Ski Sundown is more geared towards the beginners, though (9 of the trails are for that level). But that doesn't mean that the adrenaline junkies can't have their fun – the Gunbarrel trail, for example, is a steep, straight ski down the side of the mountain.
