Bear Notch
Bear Notch is more about ski touring and cross-country skiing than anything else, but that doesn't mean that your skiing is any less of an experience. They have over 65 kilometers worth of groomed trail, after all, and these trails offer spectacular views and sights. If you're into recreational skiing, or if you want to improve or practice your skiing, then Bear Notch is highly recommended.

2. Echo Valley
Echo Valley is one of those understated wilderness wonderlands that more people should know about, really. Don't let the fact that it's a family-type ski area fool you – Echo Valley has a decent number of steeps that are suitable for more experienced skiers. And although it's said that Echo Valley is great for those who are just learning how to ski, the trails are enough to tucker out even the experts – not because it's particularly challenging, but because it's fun.

The Burke Mountain Ski Resort is one of those places that can make everyone happy. With 43 posted and wonderfully-groomed ski runs and a terrain park on top of the fairly uncrowded area that showcases some really great sights, it's not surprising that this place is quite appealing. Burke is also home to some of the best Nordic skiing in the US, and has spawned some 80 Olympian skiers. Top that.
