Shawnee Peak is probably best known as a night skiing destination, with 19 lit trails (out of more than 40) for the very purpose – it actually has the most number of lit trails in New England. Shawnee Peak has two terrain parks and four gladed areas, which are designed to satisfy skiers of all skill levels. The area boasts of 1300 feet worth of vertical territory, and a value-for-money policy that is ideal for a memorable and affordable vacation. It's also interesting to note that despite the fairly modern facilities, the people running Shawnee Park are very traditional in spirit.

Spruce Mountain is not a resort, but a ski area in Central Maine. Nevertheless, it is considered a very unique geographical structure, and a very interesting ski destination. The 11 trails of Spruce Mountain are maintained mostly by volunteers, and half of those trails are kept up by means of snowmakers. Nevertheless, skiers get to enjoy the special experience of skiing UP the 300 vertical feet to the summit of the mountain. Spruce Mountain is also known as an ideal cross-country skiing area.

This ski resort lives up to its name. With a view of the famous Lake Tahoe and a summit elevation of above 10, 000 feet, this is as close to heaven as you get. Heavenly Ski Resort is one of North America’s largest ski areas; it covers two states—California and Nevada. One day is not enough for you to enjoy the terrain parks and the resort’s facilities.

The Lost Valley Ski Area may be just that – a ski area – but it doesn't mean that it couldn't put up a fight as a ski destination. It boasts of fifteen trails, after all, and has a really good terrain park that could be used for both skiing and snowboarding. While some argue that most of the ski trails at the Lost Valley Ski Area are disappointingly for beginners and intermediates only, it should be pointed out that the advanced and expert trails are actually pretty challenging for skiers of that level. The Lost Valley Ski Area also plays host to one of the largest ski schools in Maine.
