Cataloochee Ski Area
Cataloochee Ski Area is just four miles off U.S. 19 above Maggie Valley, North Carolina. It is accessible from Interstate-40. It has a skiable area of 25 acres and has a vertical drop of 740 feet. Cataloochee’s longest run is 3,500 feet known as Upper and Lower Snowbird. Cataloochee Ski Area is the first ski area to open in North Carolina in 2005-2006 winter season. Their skiing season is from November to April.

The Elko Snowbowl is a small ski recreation area in Elko County, Nevada. It's more of a family place than anything else. It doesn't have proper trails, and doesn't provide challenge, but it's a fun place for some recreational skiing.

Located at Glenwood, New York, Kissing Bridge Ski and Snowboard Resort is approximately half an hour away from Buffalo. The resort is association with P.S.I.A. (Professional Ski Instructors of America) and A.A.S.I. (American Association of Snowboard Instructors). Located at the Blue Mountains, its wide, downhill trails are ideal for skiers of varying skills – so you can ski progressively harder slopes as you improve. The place has an excellent program for little children, and offers good facilities for alpine and cross-country skiing.

Hawknest Ski Area is situated on Seven Devils Mountain in North Carolina. The ski area is just an hour and half from Asheville. The mountain has a peak elevation of 4, 819 feet giving a vertical drop of 683 feet. It has 20 acres of skiable area with 12 trails and 2 lifts.

Villa Olivia Ski Resort is part of the many activities offered by Villa Olivia Country Club in Bartlett, Illinois. It makes for a wonderful family getaway, especially with little kids involved. Granted, its kid-friendly nature doesn't allow for very challenging slopes (only around 180 feet vertical distance), but they are enough to have lots of wholesome family fun in. It has a total of 9 slopes with 6 different ski-lifts. It also has a wide choice of hotel rooms, for those who come from afar. Its ski hill has 9 slopes, with 6 different ski lifts servicing it to enable skiers to get up the hill efficiently and quickly.
