Burke Mountain
The Burke Mountain Ski Resort is one of those places that can make everyone happy. With 43 posted and wonderfully-groomed ski runs and a terrain park on top of the fairly uncrowded area that showcases some really great sights, it's not surprising that this place is quite appealing. Burke is also home to some of the best Nordic skiing in the US, and has spawned some 80 Olympian skiers. Top that.

Hawk Inn is more of a four-season resort than a ski resort. But it makes for a good ski resort in the winter – it definitely has some of the best downhill skiing in the East, thanks in to its valley location. There's also miles of cross-country skiing here. A very sedate skiing experience.

A lot of Mt Crescent's patrons associate Iowa with the resort, owing to its nature. It is rather small, and rather simply made, but it still holds its own when it comes to the finer points of skiing. It has chairlifts and fairly easy trails-- no black diamonds, but then again, Iowa is not known for their ski trails. It has an excellent terrain park, making it a resort fit for novices, and people who want to keep in shape.
