If you like fun, then you might want to try the Mount Spokane Ski Area. True, it's not a resort, but it's a worthwhile ski destination to try – almost half of the grand total of its trails are ranked as difficult, while not alienating less experienced skiers. The snowfall is also ideal here, as it ensures some good coverage. Great place to have a weekend getaway.

If you like the feeling of skiing right in your backyard, go to Granlibakken. The resort offers the perfect getaway from swarming vacation spots this winter. It may be small compared to other resorts in California but their facilities can provide a complete ski experience like cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Although it isn't as big as some other ski resorts with its 135 acres worth of skiable area, no one can say that skiing in Magic Mountain is boring. It has about 35 runs to its name, and half of those are regarded as some of the most difficult in the area. Thrill seekers will be happy to know that it has an array of trees, steeps and cliffs that make even the most experienced skiers hesitate. Indeed, a very challenging terrain – all the while still having some trails suited to the less experienced.

The Eaglecrest Ski Area is just that – a community-owned ski area – but there's a reason why it's called “the best little ski area in the world”. Because the area is pretty much cut off from the mainland, it's rarely crowded and you'll be free to enjoy the 31 trails on th 640 acres of very challenging skiable area. There is also some great cross-country terrain here, as well as terrain park, and a beginners area.

Four Lakes Village Ski Resort is located within Lisle, Illinois, and its patrons unanimously agree that it's a place where everyone who walks in will leave the resort a better skier and/or snowboarder. Granted, it's mostly designed for casual skiing, and experts may be disappointed if they're looking for crazy, complicated trails, but it still offers big leaps and jumps for more advanced skiers to practice on. Despite its humble size, it remains a favorite of many casual skiers and families with small kids, due to its relatively easy trails and undaunting jumps. They have excellent equipment and well-maintained runs and slopes. Also, they offer attractive rates and packages, to enable each and every patron to enjoy their stay.
