Eaglecrest

The Eaglecrest Ski Area is just that – a community-owned ski area – but there's a reason why it's called “the best little ski area in the world”. Because the area is pretty much cut off from the mainland, it's rarely crowded and you'll be free to enjoy the 31 trails on th 640 acres of very challenging skiable area. There is also some great cross-country terrain here, as well as terrain park, and a beginners area.

Pine Knob is situated in Clarkston Michigan, and is within short driving distance of many residences in Clarkston. It has a total of 15 ski trails serviced by 10 lifts, and a vertical drop of 300 feet with 85 acres of skiable land. The 15 trails are of different difficulty levels, thus ensuring that skiers have a trail they'll be comfortable with. Most of its patrons are high school students and families, with lots of beginners. The hills of Pine Knob are quite small, making it a nice first-time experience, though there are several jumps, such as the Phase One and Quicksilver, which are complicated enough to practice advanced techniques on.

The Nashoba Valley Ski Area may be small, but it doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. It has seventeen trails, most of which are for intermediate and advanced level skiers – the Wardance Trail is a favorite, for its moguls and that jump at the end. Most of the trails are pretty much littered with array of rails, jibs and jumps. All in all, a pretty fun ski place to check out.
