Thredbo
In the winter months, Thredbo could boast at the fact that it has the longest ski run in Australia (5.5 km), which obviously makes Thredbo one of the more popular ski attraction in the continent. Thredbo has fifty ski runs, and while most believe that the steepness of the area makes the slopes for advanced skiers only, family vacationers will be happy to note that Thredbo has a fairly balanced distribution of area for the different skill levels. The terrain parks of Thredbo include rails, jumps and boxes to make them more fun and challenging. Who can resist a place like this?

1. Ben Lomond
Ben Lomond, found at the Ben Lomond National Park, is one of the two ski-worthy mountains in Tazmania, and supposedly the one that is more preferred by visitors. With stunning views of and at the trails, skiing at Ben Lomond is a tranquil and breath-taking affair. While it is not quite as fantastic in reputation as other Australian ski destinations, it has to be admitted that the intermediate trails, runs and slopes of the area definitely set your blood to pumping. With 75 kilometers worth of cross-country trails, it's not at all surprising that Mount Stirling is a cross-country skiing hub that the whole family can enjoy in the winter seasons. In fact, one can even say that it's THE favorite cross-country skiing resort in Victoria and Southern New South Wales, Australia. Perisher Blue has got to be one of the biggest ski resorts in Australia – if it isn't the biggest at 1,245 hectares of skiing terrain. As of 2008, it was voted as the number one ski destination of Australia, with its wide variety of trails within just one 420-meter vertical drop. Spread over seven peaks, Perisher Blue is a fairly uncrowded ski area that gives service to skiers of different levels (mostly intermediate). Perisher Blue is a ski adventure you will never forget, as the resort offers night skiing as well as cross-country skiing. Charlotte Pass, being Australia's very first and highest ski resort (with the highest elevation being 1,954 meters) definitely has a lot to offer to skiers everywhere. Being and isolated resort, Charlotte Pass has the advantage of giving its guests as much private enjoyment of the slopes as possible with little problem in moving from one to another. While the trails at Charlotte Pass range from beginner to advanced, much of it is ideal for the intermediate skiers and the cross-country skiers. You'll also be happy to know that in Charlotte Pass, you'll be skiing on real snow. So come and visit.

5. Dinner Plain
Although Dinner Plain is not by any rights a proper ski resort – it's better known as one of Mount Hotham's skiing bases – it is nevertheless a decent skiing destination for the family. Here, the younger ones (or the beginners) can have a fun, peaceful learning experience in the ski departments with little to no incident. There is also a rather nice Cross Country ski trail in Dinner Plain once everyone's got their ski legs in order. So if you want a comfortable ski vacation, Dinner Plain is for you.
