2. Woodstock
Woodstock Inn's Suicide Six is a small ski area as far as ski areas go with its 23 ski runs, but it doesn't mean that it's not worth a visit. It is funny to note, however, that despite the name “Suicide Six”, it's terrain is mostly ideal for leisurely recreational skiing. But more experienced skiers need not fear – the difficult trails (especially the Face) are really difficult, and you can have fun on those. Woodstock also offers ski tours and a good cross-country program.

Marquette Mountain is the largest day skiing area in the UP, with plenty of combined natural snow and superb artificial snow to make skiing a better experience for every patron. Marquette has over 25 runs and more than 600 feet of vertical drops, enough surface area to keep even the hardiest skiers busy. The whole mountain encourages family and group get-togethers, if the many on-mountain picnic sites are any indication. Marquette also offers night skiing for those who prefer skiing with little crowds, under a blanket of stars. It has 4 lifts to service its 25 runs, which range from beginner level slopes to expert trails.
