Nor-Ski Runs

Nor-ski is a community ski area, though it is only open when conditions allow it to. It offers both alpine skiing and snowboarding, over a terrain of 30 skiable acres. It doesn't have its own ski school and lodge, but there are places within the vicinity where one may learn skiing lessons or stay. Most of its patrons are locals and big families who just want to let loose and have fun without paying much.

It's an fairly popular back country skiing site, and is usually the first place to get snow in Alaska (at least, the first place accessible to urban areas). There are plans to build a ski resort here, but so far, nothing significant has happened.
