Fun Valley Ski Resort
Fun Valley is situated in the heart of Iowa. It is a resort that utilizes manual snowmaking in 90% of its terrain. Its trails are mostly geared towards skiers in beginner and intermediate levels and families with little kids, which makes it an ideal ski area for people who want to learn how to ski. Aside from skiing, it has a half-pipe to keep snowboarders entertained, as well as formal lessons and rentals.

Mount Hood Skibowl is pretty famous for a very good reason – it is the largest night ski area in America. It has 34 lit runs (out of 65 trails) in its 960 ski-worthy acres, and the most number of night skiing hours for a reasonable price. Ski Bradford also has a wicked terrain park where stunts can be observed and performed on an almost regular basis. Night skiing is also offered at Ski Bradford, as well as a large-scale after-school teaching program for school clubs. Being very close to Boston, it isn't surprising that Ski Bradford is a popular ski destination.

Sapphire Valley Ski Resort is situated in a mountain valley in North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains. Snow sports enthusiast are very much welcome in this resort. It has two runs, one for novice skiers who will receive extra attention and the other is for experts so that they could enjoy skiing or snowboarding at their own pace. The resort has two lane tube parks—Frozen Falls. Amenities available in the resort, aside from lodging and ski packages, are Jacuzzi, sauna, and indoor heated swimming pool.

5. Ski Snowstar
Ski Snowstar is situated within Coal Creek valley, five miles west of the Andalusia Quad Cities. It has 28 acres of skiable surface, and offers terrain designed for different skill levels. Moreover, it is a family-oriented ski-training area, accompanied by a day lodge with a bar, cafeteria and ski-rentals. It is serviced by two quad and double chairlifts, which provides fast rides to the top, so as to maximize skiing time. It also has a ski school, which is PSIA-certified, and offers a pre-ski program for parents who wish to have their toddlers learn the sport early. Like most Midwestern states, the skiing season runs from early December to mid-March.
