Lutsen Mountain Ski Resort
Lutsen Mountains Ski Resort is reputed to be the highest and largest skiing resort in the midwest plains of Minnesota, and is easily one of the best in the Midwest. It is comprised of over four mountains, and has the only gondola in the state, along with Nordic ski tracks. It also has 60 acres just for tree skiing, a size twice as large as some other ski resorts in the Midwest, and a whopping 1,000 acres of total skiable terrain, with 90 different ski runs.

1. Otis Ridge
Otis Ridge is one of those places that can be likened to a park, simply because it's a family place that has an “anything goes” feel. While it only has 11 trails over its 60 acres of ski-worthy area, the terrain is varied enough to challenge all skill levels. All the trails are, of course, augmented by snowmakers, in order to make the skiing experience smoother. Otis Ridge is a worthwhile ski experience.

Most of the 13 trails are ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers, as the vertical drop is only 650 feet. The cross-country area is essentially their golf course. All of the ski areas are supported by snowmakers.
