Cochran's Ski Area is a ski area that is designed primarily for young skiers. What's interesting here is that it's obviously a downhill ski place, but it has a very cross-country feel to it. There's nothing here for the more experienced skiers, though, with only eight runs that are mostly intermediate and beginner in skill difficulty. Nevertheless, a good place to take the kids.

The Nashoba Valley Ski Area may be small, but it doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. It has seventeen trails, most of which are for intermediate and advanced level skiers – the Wardance Trail is a favorite, for its moguls and that jump at the end. Most of the trails are pretty much littered with array of rails, jibs and jumps. All in all, a pretty fun ski place to check out.

The Arrowhead Ski Area is actually pretty small as a ski destination; it has 9 ski trails in its 25 skiable acres of hill. If you really think about it, it's more of a recreation area than a real ski place. Nevertheless, it has an interesting enough terrain to allow some fun for everyone. It's very local though, so don't expect too much.

Despite being just a ski area, the Hilltop Ski Area is nevertheless an interesting place to visit if you have kids. Obviously, the area is for novices, with eight of its trails ideal for beginners. Nevertheless, you can get some really peaceful alpine skiing at the Hilltop Ski Area, and enjoy the 75 kilometers of cross-country. Night skiing is also available here.

The Powder Ridge Ski Area, while not a resort, is still a rather good place to ski. Found on Besek Mountain in Connecticut, it is seen by many as THE best ski area in the state. With 75 acres worth of ski-worthy territory, Powder Ridge terrains cater to skiers of all skill levels – ranging to wide spaces for beginners, and obstacle trails for the more experienced. The ski learning programs at Power Ridge are also known to be more organized than some others.
