Big Squaw Mountain
The Big Squaw Mountain Resort is known for its spectacular views and old-fashioned New England skiing, with 33 trails fairly divided among skill levels of skiers. Its manufactured snow boasts of quality that makes skiing ideal and convenient for both professional and novice skiers. This, coupled with the scenic trails offered naturally by the terrain, makes for an enjoyable experience for all visitors. It may not promise adrenaline-pumping experiences, but it does promise unforgettable moments.

Mount Ashland is regarded as part of the alpine gateway to the Pacific Northwest; it is also on the highest peak of the Siskiyou Mountains. With a bowl and some of the steepest runs you can hope to find, the thrill-seekers will be happy to know that this place lives up to the claim “it's steeper here”. Most of Mount Ashland's trails are ranked black, and there are very few green trails here.

The renowned Arapahoe Basin is a famous alpine skiing area found in the higher areas of the White River National Forest. Affectionately called A-basin, the area is the highest skiable terrain in all of North America, rising up to an astonishing 13,050 feet. The height, coupled with the 367 inches of snow it gets annually makes the Arapahoe Basin Ski Area a perfect destination for both skiers and snowboarders.

Steven's Pass Ski Area may be called a ski area, but don't think that it's not worth a visit when you happen to be on a ski vacation. With some nice, dry snow and a collection of glades and bowls to keep things interesting, Steven's Pass offers some excellent skiing for the more experienced skiers. The area's terrain is varied enough so the adrenaline junkies would not be bored, and it has enough gentle slopes for the novices. The great view doesn't hurt either.

4. Ski Brule
Ski Brule Resort is situated in Iron River, Michigan, and it was founded in 1956 by Ernie McCullough, two-time men's international racing champion. The resort is known for having one of the longest open seasons, and a traditional structure. Ski Brule comprises of 17 runs serviced by 11 lifts. It has a large log cabin with authentic wood stoves and horse drawn sleds. The whole resort is family oriented, opting for a fun, relaxed atmosphere, rather than a competitive, charged one. Ski Brule employs a competent, welcoming staff and who's only goal is to provide excellent service. The resdort also offers ski lessons for those who need them. All lessons are provided by certified instructors for very reasonable prices. In fact, the whole resort is affordable as fas a ski resorts go.

The Elko Snowbowl is a small ski recreation area in Elko County, Nevada. It's more of a family place than anything else. It doesn't have proper trails, and doesn't provide challenge, but it's a fun place for some recreational skiing.
