Beaconsfield Mountain is the home of Apex Mountain Resort, a ski resort accessible just west of Penticton, BC, Canada. Apex mountain's summit elevation reaches 2187 meters, receiving an average of 600 centimeters of snow per year. Ski friendly terrain spans out to 1112 acres, or 4.5 kilometers, with some cross-country terrain. A total of four lifts, including a high speed quad allows skiers to test out any and all of the 67 named trails. The Apex Mountain Resort is a quaint, secluded resort that also makes it possible for visitors to experience privacy and enjoy the quiet mountainside minus the hassles of overcrowding.

2. Big White Ski Resort

Located 56 kilometers (35 miles) southeast of Kelowna in the British Columbia Exterior is the Big White Ski Resort. Also known as simply Big White, this ski resort is known as the second largest resort in British Columbia, and one of the biggest resorts in the entire area of North America. The vertical drop from the 2,319 meter mountain summit is 777 meters, and is serviced by 16 lifts. And with 38 acres available for night skiing, Big White has western Canada's biggest area for night skiing out of all resorts in the region.

3. Cypress Mountain

Cypress Mountain in Canada is located at West Vancouver, British Columbia. Just a 20 minute drive north of Vancouver, Cypress Mountain has a total of 51 named ski runs, with some available for night skiing. Aside from the skiing, visitors can also enjoy snowshoeing tours and other activities. Other services available include ski schools and rentals, a cafeteria and lounge, and accessibility for the many retail shops located around its perimeter.

4. Fernie Alpine Resort

Fernie Alpine Resort, near the town of Fernie, British Columbia, Canada, is particularly known for its high annual snowfall. The experienced annual snowfall in Fernie is actually considered the highest of any resort in the Canadian Rockies, which makes it perfect for powder skiing. Fernie Alpine Resort has 10 servicing lifts that take its guests to the 107 different trails, with some reaching vertical drops of 857 meters. 5. Kicking Horse Resort

One of newest resorts in Canada is the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, located 14 kilometers outside of Golden, British Columbia. The Kicking Horse features the current third highest vertical drop in all of North America. The drop hits the 4,133 feet mark (or 1,260 meters), and is only 6 feet shorter than Jackson Hole. The resort also holds 2,750 acres of skiable land area, accessible via their lift services.

6. Kimberley Alpine Resort

Located in the Purcell Mountains, the Kimberley Alpine Resort lies on the east face of the North Star Hill. The resort maintains 80 runs total, with a good division among beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. 5 lift systems service the Kimberley Alpine Resort's guests, comprised of a triple chair, a double chair, a T-bar, a magic carpet, and a high speed quad chair lift. Skiing at the Kimberley Alpine Resort is ideal only between the months of December and April so make sure you make reservations early.

7. Mount Washington Alpine Resort

Mount Washington Alpine Resort resides on the eastern edge of the Vancouver Island Ranges in British Columbia, Canada. Aside from skiing and snowboarding, there are also additional facilities for snow tubing and a terrain park within the area. Mount Washington Alpine Resort also manages the nordic trails of Forbidden Plateau, located in nearby Strathcona Provincial Park. Mount Washingto Alpine Resort also prides itself with its latest acquisition, the Boomerang. The Boomerang is a state of the art continuous lift system that goes up one vertical face of the mountain and down the other side of the slope. This lift allows for the possibility of accommodating up to 1200 guests per hour.

8. Revelstoke Mountain Resort

One of the major ski resorts operating on the famous Mount MacKenzie, the Revelstoke Mountain Resort offers about 20 square kilometers of terrain perfect for skiing, with a vertical drop of 1,845 meters (or 6,100 feet). Although the resort is still yet to reach its full construction, it does plan on offering one of the best skiing experiences for its guests. The Revelstoke Mountain Resort also operates 25 lifts for 100 ski and snowboarding trails. The resort opened for the first time on December 22, 2007, and was considered as the biggest North American ski resort debut in the past two decades.

With an annual snowfall of 700 centimeters, the Silver Star Mountain Resort is one of the more ideal skiing spots in Canada. With a total of 115 marked runs and a vertical drop of 760 meters or 2,500 feet, the Silver Star Mountain Resort can accommodate both novice guests and more advanced skiing veterans. The Silver Star Mountain Resort has a total of 12 lifts that they use to service their guests, including 2 fixed-grip quads, 2 tube lifts, and 3 beginner magic carpets. The resort also covers two mountain faces within a valley, with 4 distinct, main areas: Vance Creek, Attridge, Silver Woods, and Putnam Creek.
