1. Arapahoe Basin Ski Area
The renowned Arapahoe Basin is a famous alpine skiing area found in the higher areas of the White River National Forest. Affectionately called A-basin, the area is the highest skiable terrain in all of North America, rising up to an astonishing 13,050 feet. The height, coupled with the 367 inches of snow it gets annually makes the Arapahoe Basin Ski Area a perfect destination for both skiers and snowboarders.

2. Aspen Highlands
Famous for the Highland Bowl, one of the most intense skiing sites in the area, the Aspen Highlands caters to skiers and snowboarders who can handle a more intermediate-to-expert difficulty terrain. Three high speed quad chairs and two triple chairs are used to service visitors up the mountain tops to experience Aspen's very challenging trails.

3. Beaver Creek Resort
Run by Vail Resorts, Beaver Creek Resort is one of the premiere U.S. ski resorts in Avalon, Colorado. The resort is actually comprised of three villages, with Beaver Creek Village being the main one. Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead round out the remaining two. A total of 17 lifts operate in the area, which includes 10 high-speed quads that service the 148 runs available for guests and regular patrons.

And much like other Vail Resorts, Breckenridge Ski Resort offers a range of activities for its guests. 5. Buttermilk Ski Area
Considered the easiest ski area in Colorado, Buttermilk is also one of its most famous, having hosted the ESPN Winter X Games many different times. This beginner friendly ski area is also home to one of the best ski schools and children's programs in all of the United States of America.

6. Copper Mountain Resort
Located about 75 miles west of Denver is Summit County's Copper Mountain Resort, a notable ski resort owned and operated by Intrawest. A total of 22 lifts in the area take the Copper Mountain guests to any of the 125 trails available. 9. Echo Mountain Park
Echo Mountain Park was the former site of Squaw Pass Ski Area, and is considered the closest available from Denver, Colorado at just 35 miles. Echo Mountain Park, whose entire area is a terrain park, also offers night skiing for skiing enthusiasts whoa are into more challenging runs.

10. Eldora Mountain Resort
Eldora Mountain Resort sits just 20 miles westo of Boulder, Colorado. This pristine, snow-white are caters mostly to day skiers, although overnight accomodations can be arranged. Visitors enjoy the 40 kilometer cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, aside from the usual skiing and snowboarding.
