Chestnut Mountain Resort is a full-service skiing facility which offers 17 different ski trails, and covers all skill levels, from novice to expert. It is a full service skiing and lodging facility located atop a wooded bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. It's longest trail is 3,500 feet in distance, while enjoying a vertical descent of 475 feet. It has top-of-the-line snowmaking and grooming systems, which allows skiiers the best ski surface available. It is serviced by three surface lifts, three triple chairs, and two quad chairs.

Ski Snowstar is situated within Coal Creek valley, five miles west of the Andalusia Quad Cities. It has 28 acres of skiable surface, and offers terrain designed for different skill levels. Moreover, it is a family-oriented ski-training area, accompanied by a day lodge with a bar, cafeteria and ski-rentals. It is serviced by two quad and double chairlifts, which provides fast rides to the top, so as to maximize skiing time. It also has a ski school, which is PSIA-certified, and offers a pre-ski program for parents who wish to have their toddlers learn the sport early. Like most Midwestern states, the skiing season runs from early December to mid-March.

Villa Olivia Ski Resort is part of the many activities offered by Villa Olivia Country Club in Bartlett, Illinois. It makes for a wonderful family getaway, especially with little kids involved. Granted, its kid-friendly nature doesn't allow for very challenging slopes (only around 180 feet vertical distance), but they are enough to have lots of wholesome family fun in. It has a total of 9 slopes with 6 different ski-lifts. It also has a wide choice of hotel rooms, for those who come from afar. Its ski hill has 9 slopes, with 6 different ski lifts servicing it to enable skiers to get up the hill efficiently and quickly.

For those tired of skiing, Illinois offers a nigh-on exclusive snow park for snowboarders, which boasts of equipment catered towards the less refined yet still very enjoyable snow sport. The snowboard park has two rope tows, kickers, table tops, a half pipe, and gaps to challenge snowboarders everywhere. It also has very reasonable rates, and considerably cheaper than skiers. Four Lakes Village Ski Resort is located within Lisle, Illinois, and its patrons unanimously agree that it's a place where everyone who walks in will leave the resort a better skier and/or snowboarder. Granted, it's mostly designed for casual skiing, and experts may be disappointed if they're looking for crazy, complicated trails, but it still offers big leaps and jumps for more advanced skiers to practice on. Despite its humble size, it remains a favorite of many casual skiers and families with small kids, due to its relatively easy trails and undaunting jumps. They have excellent equipment and well-maintained runs and slopes. Also, they offer attractive rates and packages, to enable each and every patron to enjoy their stay.
