2. Blandford

Blandford Ski Area is pretty much known as the oldest club-owned ski area in North America, and even then you can't say that it's old hat. They have difficult, narrow trails for the more experienced skiers, uncomplicated glades for those who aren't used to it, and wide, open slopes that are fun for everybody. All that is perfectly maintained and groomed for the enjoyment of families. Couple this with a good ski education program and race programs, and you have one heck of a place.

3. Blue Hills

The Blue Hills Ski Area has a 330-foot vertical drop that plays home to eight trails. Primarily a place frequented by high school ski teams (it hosts races on Big Blue), Blue Hills is still one of the best places to visit if you're ever in Boston, Massachusetts. We warn the thrill-seeker skiers, however, that the Blue Hills Ski Area is pretty much a ski learning center, meaning you might not enjoy this. But kids and families will.
