1. Chapelco Ski Resort

Chapelco Ski Resort is considered the best skiing resort in Argentina and one of the most highly praised vacation areas in South America. It has 31 ski trails leveraged by 12 lifts, and runs through several kinds of terrain-- from curved bowls to half pipes, to steep backcountry slopes . It lies within Argentina's National Park, hovering above the cerulean waters of Lake Lacarfar below, and surrounded by a forest that was preserved from the mountain deforestation. It is located only 13 miles from the city of San Martin de los Andres, making it close enough to the convenience of city living, while being far enough for a getaway vacation.

2. La Hoya

La Hoya Ski Resort is located together with the Los Alerces National park, lending form and function to the shapeless but beautiful landscape of forests and lakes. It is 1,350 meters above sea level, with a favorable geographic location that allows visitors to enjoy snow in early June. It has 60 hectares of skiable land, with several sites that accommodate all kinds of skill levels, making it an ideal family getaway. It has authentic powder snow, and the skiing areas are supported by 10 ski lifts (which supports a stunning 4,400 skiers per hour), with several areas dedicated to other snow sports sch as snow boarding, randoneé skiing, Nordic skiing, and snowmobile circuits.

3. Las Leñas

There is no doubt that Las Leñas is of the most sought after ski resorts in Argentina attributable to its unparalleled snow quality, first class accommodations, modern lift system, and its smooth and indiscriminate ski runs. There's a place for all skill levels in this resort, challenging twists and trails for expert skiers, and basic, undaunting slopes for beginners. 4. Chacaltaya Ski Resort

The Chacaltaya glacier stands as Bolivia's sole ski resort. It takes pride in being the world's best in many things-- highest lift-served ski resort, northernmost ski area in South America, and the world's most equatorial. Similarly, Chacaltaya is the only ski resort in South America to follow the ski season of North America, as its ski lifts operates only on the weekends of November up until March. This ski site was developed by still operated by the Andino Boliviano Club.

5. Los Penitentes

Penitentes is a winter resort situatedon the Andean range, 2,580 meters above sea level, lying against the spectacular background of Mt. Aconcagua. It has over 300 hectares of skiable surface area, and covered by the finest dry and compact powder snow. Its skiing areas are scattered across 28 runs of varying heights, lengths and drops to accommodate skiers of all skill levels, with some routes being officially approved by FASA and the International Ski Federation, allowing them the honor of staging various skiing competitions.

6. Cerro Bayo

Cerro Bayo Ski resort is located along the natural landscapes and slopes of Mount Bayo, offering over 200 hectares of skiable surface. The resort is surrounded by a rich forest and overlooks a breathtaking view of Lake Nahuel Huapi, and is close to a mountain village. Cerro Bayo is well-known for its 700-meter vertical drop for alpine skiing pracitce, as well as its well-suited environment for beginners and advanced skiiers, with over 23 signaled runs and 12 lifts. 8. Lagunillas

Lagunillas is one of the more down-to-earth, inexpensive ski resorts in Chile, located near the quaint town of San José de Maipo. It is known for its wide range of slopes, wonderful casual atmosphere, and the gorgeous environment. It is situated at a towering 7,220 feet above sea level, and sports several facilities which include a ski school, equipment rental, a gift shop and a cafeteria. It has 13 different slopes, each catering to a particular skill level, and runs across a stunning 500 acres of various terrain. It's most popular pistes include La Lola, Novicios and Pancho, all interconnected by a series of modern ski lifts. It is also one of the few resorts that offer night skiing.
