1. Falls Creek Ski Resort
Falls Creek offers packages for skiers of all ages and proficiencies. There are beginners packages and children's programs as well as a myriad of intermediate runs for the more experienced – it is arguably one of the best places to ski among intermediate skiers. Much of the skiing is done at the peak of Mt. McKay at 1,842 meters; area-wise, Falls Creek is the largest ski resort in Victoria. It is also the one of the better off-season skiing resorts in the world, so it's a great place to vacation.

2. Lake Mountain
Lake Mountain offers some of the most popular cross-country skiing programs and activities in the world, not only for its runs and its affordable rates, but also because of its convenient location. The highest point in the area is 1,530 meters, and has a terrain that is ideal for cross-country skiers of all levels; it has 37 kilometers worth of exciting trails. Lake mountain also offers skiing lessons to interested parties, so there's no need to worry if you're new to this.

3. Mount Buffalo
If you're into scenic skiing, then Mount Buffalo is for you! Even though Mount Buffalo is mostly geared towards the beginner crowd, no one can say that skiing in Mount Buffalo is a less than satisfying experience. In Mount Buffalo, entire families can ski all year 'round while taking in the quietly beautiful atmosphere of its ski bowl. For those learning to ski, instructors take you to increasingly difficult runs in order to make your experience more exciting. All in all, Mount Buffalo is a nice, relaxing ski experience for the family.

4. Mount Buller
Mount Buller is home to the incredibly popular beginners ski area, Bourke Street, is regarded as THE busiest ski run in Australia. Of course, Mount Buller doesn't really limit itself to beginner skiers – home to the longest vertical drop in Victoria, its intermediate or “blue” runs and advanced or “black” runs give skilled skiers some of the best challenges and experiences one can hope to have. For example, the blue run trails are close enough to the town in that skiers can have “pit stops”. There is most certainly something for everyone here!

5. Mount Hotham
If you're one of those skiers that are really serious about his trails, then skiing in Mount Hotham is definitely recommended. Even though there are trails for skiers of all levels, Mount Hotham's intermediate and advanced runs can only be described as SOMETHING ELSE. The variety of their advances and expert ski runs are astounding; you're likely to spend days getting through all of them. Apart from this, you and your family can also get a ski tour, where you're acquainted with the mountain on your skis – great way to brush up on your ski skills. So why not have a go here?

6. Dinner Plain
Although Dinner Plain is not by any rights a proper ski resort – it's better known as one of Mount Hotham's skiing bases – it is nevertheless a decent skiing destination for the family. Here, the younger ones (or the beginners) can have a fun, peaceful learning experience in the ski departments with little to no incident. There is also a rather nice Cross Country ski trail in Dinner Plain once everyone's got their ski legs in order. So if you want a comfortable ski vacation, Dinner Plain is for you.

7. Mount Stirling
With 75 kilometers worth of cross-country trails, it's not at all surprising that Mount Stirling is a cross-country skiing hub that the whole family can enjoy in the winter seasons. In fact, one can even say that it's THE favorite cross-country skiing resort in Victoria and Southern New South Wales, Australia. The trails range from beginners to intermediate, with several practice slopes available to those who would need brushing up. All in all, skiing in Mount Stirling is all about having fun.
